About This Project
A contemporary Mediterranean villa steps from the Mediterranean Sea, designed around indoor-outdoor living with a central courtyard, infinity pool, and expansive terraces that capture the coastal breeze. The 7,200 sq ft home balances minimalist architecture with warm, natural materials.
The Challenge
The narrow urban plot and strict coastal building regulations limited the building envelope significantly. The client also required the house to achieve near-zero energy consumption while maintaining floor-to-ceiling glazing for sea views.
Our Solution
We designed a split-level layout that maximised floor area within the height restrictions, oriented the living spaces around a central breezeway for passive cooling, and specified triple-glazed, solar-controlled glazing that reduced HVAC load by 55% compared to a standard build.
The Result
The villa achieved an A+ energy rating and was shortlisted for the European Prize for Contemporary Architecture. The client's family moved in June 2025, and the property has become a favoured location for editorial photoshoots and private events.
